THE IDEAL
With the appropriate learning materials made available in the Philippines, parents must be able to educate their children against child sexual harassment at an early age and help them be vigilant in identifying and voicing out any malicious act.
THE REALITY
In the Philippines, 7 million children face sexual abuse annually, with 1 in 5 experiencing harassment at home, school, or in the community. Bantay Bata 163 reported 203 cases in 2019-2020, with 57% involving relatives as perpetrators. The Child Protection Network's annual report shows that 87% of sexual abuse victims are girls, and 11.7% of these incidents occur at home.

OUR GOAL
To create an interactive children's storybook that spreads awareness against child sexual harassment to Filipino parents with children ages 6-9 years old.
The main highlight is "Oooppss! Bawal Yan!" (Oooppss! That's Not Allowed!), a catchphrase the main character uses when witnessing something mischievous. This repeated phrase aids language development by providing constant exposure, helping children learn and understand. Repetition also supports concept attainment, improving skills and fostering excitement, confidence, and competence.
FONTS
The book uses two main fonts: Oliver font, a playful handwritten font used to emphasize and highlight keywords, and Avenir Roman as the regular text for a cleaner look and legibility for adults and children.
COLORS
The color palette revolves around vibrant colors such as shades of blue, yellow, red, and orange, representing playfulness that is visually appealing to kids in contrast to the dark and heavy atmosphere of the topic.
For the character design, we chose a more animated and stylized approach. We softened the edges and gave the character a rounder appearance, which created a visual contrast to the serious subject matter. This change not only added charm but also made the character more appealing and accessible to younger audiences.
PROTOTYPE
FINAL VERSION
The storybook is an interactive storybook that showcases three situational challenges. These activities act as reviews for every piece of information given to a child to help them retain important information before jumping to another.
